SCENE OUTLINE:
Scene 1 – The film starts with move-in day. The first scene takes place in a dorm room where Natasha and Francesca are unpacking and meeting each other for the first time because they are roommates. Natasha is a very organized, chill jock, whereas Francesca is a messy, dramatic party girl. It is immediately apparent that they are very different people. Their individual halves of the room are practically opposites. Scene 2 – Francesca is shown complaining to her friends in the lounge about Natasha waking up early for class and going to sleep early because she is tired from practice. Scene 3 - Natasha is shown yawning and telling her sport teammate that Francesca came home late and woke her up at two in the morning. Scene 4 - Francesca is shown putting makeup on in the bathroom and telling her friend Natasha listens to loud music when studying and prevents Francesca from being able to get work done in the room. Scene 5 - Natasha is in the DUC telling the girl she is sitting with that Francesca is always talking on the phone to guys and it is really distracting/annoying when she is trying to work/sleep. Scene 6 – Francesca walks by as Natasha mocks/imitates her on the phone talking to some boy. Francesca gets really angry and snaps at Natasha saying, “at least I have friends” or something rude and snarky. They get into a heated conversation in the middle of the DUC, shouting little minute details that are upsetting them about the other person. Spectators slowly back out of the frame and the focus is on the arguing roommates. The argument ends with them storming out of the DUC and away from each other. OPTIONAL SCENE - (If there is time for another scene) Natasha goes to her RA and asks what she should do. The RA asks if they made a roommate agreement, which they did not, and suggests Natasha apologizes to Francesca and tries to make a roommate agreement. Scene 7 – Later that day, both girls have to sleep in the same room. Natasha tries to apologize to Francesca for what she said in the DUC, and they begin to have constructive communication. In a calm manner, they discuss the issues they have been facing and politely ask the other to be more considerate. Scene 8 – The next morning, Natasha wakes up early for class but does not turn on the light so she doesn’t wake up Francesca. Francesca agrees to clean up her side of the room and starts working on it when she wakes up. Natasha uses headphones to listen to her music while she studies, and Francesca went outside to talk to her boyfriend. By communicating with each other they were able to compromise and solve their problems. |
